  Laurina Jo Tucker

Laurina Jo Tucker was born in Chattanooga, TN, on November 8th, 1927.  She went home to be with Jesus on August 28th, 2010.

She is survived by her husband, Chuck Tucker, two sons, Joe Marc Branning, wife Debbie, Lee Branning, wife Carla, step children, Harriett Massey, Susan Tucker, Bill Cunningham, Jeffrey Tucker,

wife Carrie, 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren.

Jo, also known as Mamma Jo & Granny Jo, was an artist, teacher, friend and a wonderful cook.  She was a compassionate woman who enjoyed helping people, whether it be with a math problem or life problem, always speaking the Word of God in love into every situation.

She was known far and wide for her hospitality, and her home was the venue for many ministry events, such as mens’ breakfasts and receptions where everyone was made welcome and treated to her famous cooking.  Throughout her life she opened her home and her heart to many people, adopting them and making it her mission to help them be all they could be in Christ.

Her many talents included painting, needlework, crochet, embroidery, and she also loved music and singing.  She took every occasion to use her talents for God’s glory.

Momma Jo had a strong heart for missions, and she and Chuck supported many missionaries all over the world.  This brought many cherished friendships into their lives, and they even got to follow their seed traveling to Ireland on 5 occasions.

However, the greatest passion of her life next to Jesus was Chuck and her family.  She was very proud to be a wife, mother, grandmother & especially a great-grandmother.  Her family brought great joy to her life, and she bragged about them everywhere she went to anyone who would listen.  Some years ago Momma Jo began writing a journal of memoirs to bequeath to her family.

On March 20, 2010, she wrote the following on Eph 1:18-19:

“When our faith is faltering we need to remember all the times God has answered prayer in the past, that His promises are sure, that He has a specific plan for our lives.  He is faithful.  Praise the Lord. I pray that each member of my family have a personal relationship with my Lord and come to worship and serve Him.”

She will be missed by so many but most especially by her loving husband and family. Jo has left this life and entered eternity. She is embracing Jesus in one of her big bear hugs that even Jesus cannot escape. The family would like to thank you for your continued prayers & support.  We leave you with this question; Have you considered your eternity...?

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM with a Memorial service at 11:00 AM at Carnes Funeral Home, 3100 Gulf Freeway, Texas City, Texas 77591
