Alton Doyce Bailey was born in West Helena, Arkansas on July 21, 1931. He passed away Thursday, May 30, 2019 at the age of 87 years. He was preceded in death by his parents Hugh Bailey and Thelma Farkas, and his loving wife of 56 years, Bernice Bailey, and his brother, Hugh Bailey Jr.\nAlton is survived by his son, Mark Alton Bailey and wife, Hope of Friendswood, Texas; grandchildren, Tayler C. McLendon and husband Will of League City, Texas; and Colton C. Bailey and Julia Brady of Friendswood, Texas; great grandchildren, Grayson Alton Bailey and Emery Grace McLendon.\nAlton served in the Korean War as a Tail Gunner for the United States Air Force. He was a longtime resident of Houston, Texas where he was employed as a machinist by Stewart and Stevenson for 37 years. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who truly touched the lives of everyone he came in contact with.\nServing as Active Pallbearers are Mark Bailey, Colton Bailey, Will McLendon, Kevin Clark, Bill Parker and Barry Grounds. Serving as Honorary Pallbearer is Grayson Alton Bailey.\nThe family will receive visitors on Monday, June 3, 2019 from 12:00-1:00 PM at Carnes Funeral Home, 3100 Gulf Freeway, Texas City, Texas 77591. The funeral service will be from 1:00-2:00 PM. A private burial will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, Texas.
