Arcola Williams Obituary (1930

Arcola Williams, 91, made her transition to Heaven on February 6, 2022, surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren. She was the wife of Melvin Williams who preceded her in death on June 22, 2019. They shared 64 years together. Born in Fort Worth Texas, she was the daughter of Lottie and Frank Simpson. She spent her young life in Fort Worth, where she met Melvin, who was stationed there as a member of the United States Air Force. Arcola and Melvin married on August 23, 1954, and made their lifelong home in Melvin's hometown of Texas City, Texas. Arcola devoted her life to raising their 5 beautiful children and grandchildren. Her greatest joy was making sure that her family was loved and taken care of. Affectionately known as "Cola" to all who loved her, she brought joy to everyone she encountered. Her passion for life and witty conversation was adored by so many. Arcola was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Dickinson, Texas. There she kept her faith in God strong and instilled that faith in her children and grandchildren. Her prayers for her family were strong and plentiful. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lottie Simpson; brother, James Harry Simpson; sisters, Wealthia Foreman, Frankie Glen, and Birdie Hilliard; grandson Kendrick Simpson. She is survived by her daughters, Karen Kinney (Ron), Denise Caldwell, and Kim Ybarra; sons, Michael Simpson, and Bobby Simpson (Jean); sister, Doris Faye Henderson. Also surviving her are her grandchildren, LaToyia Holman (Kenneth), Kourtney Allen, Lesli Carroll, Ashley Williams, Jason Kinney, Joshua Kinney, Bobby Simpson, and Eric Simpson; her great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. The service will immediately follow 12:00p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday February 12, 2022, at Carnes Funeral Home Texas City, Texas with Reverend Roderick Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Cemetery in Hitchcock, Texas.
