Armando Gonzalez

–

Freeport, Texas

Armando Gonzalez, born on September 14, 1955, in Harlingen, Texas, was an adventurous spirit whose life was a testament to love, dedication, and inspiration. Armando's journey took him from serving his country honorably in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War era to a distinguished career with The Dow Chemical Company, where he worked as a Senior Instrument and Electrical Technician until his retirement in 2016. A resident of Freeport, Texas, he was known for his warm smile and genuine love for people. Armando's passion for life was evident in his love for the outdoors, whether golfing, fishing, kayaking, or simply enjoying the beauty of God's creation.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Armando's heart was devoted to his family, whom he cherished above all else. He shared a loving marriage of 46 years with his beloved wife, Beatriz, and was a dedicated father to his children, Armando Gonzalez, Angelo (Martha) Gonzalez, Ashley (Andy) Holguin, and Alexandria (Luis) Farciert. His greatest joy came from being a grandpa to his grandchildren, whom he loved with every ounce of his being. Whether near or far, creating memories with them was among his most treasured gifts. Armando's dedication to his family extended to his community, where he volunteered with the Kids Unlimited Foundation and supported youth through Tiger Cubs, Boy Scouts of America, the Dow Explorer Post, and proudly supported fellow veterans through Texas for Heroes.

Armando's inspiring life touched all who knew him, embodying selflessness and compassion. He was a devoted brother to Jose (Melinda) Gonzalez, Arturo (Rosemary) Gonzalez, and Dora Gonzalez. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Reef, Lana, Luke, Cruz, Kai, Andres, Aria, Liliana, Rebecca, Ava, Isabella, Adalynn, Alana, Angel, Ceci, and Lucy and great grandson Michael. Preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Julia Gonzalez, sister Yolanda (Eugenio) Martinez, and brother Sergio Gonzalez.

A celebration of Armando's life will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Carnes Funeral Home - CTC, located at 3100 Gulf Freeway, Texas City, Texas. Friends and family are encouraged to leave memories and upload photos to Armando's memorial page, celebrating the adventurous and loving life he led.
