Texas City, Texas

Brief History of her life

Jeanie was born in Pasadena at the old Pasadena General Hospital on January 4th, 1946 to Mr. and Mrs. Homer Shearer, but she has always considered Tyler her home town. She graduated from John Tyler High School in May of 1964. She then attended Bethany Nazarene College from which she graduated in May of 1968. She began teaching in the PISD (Pasadena Independent School District) at the McMasters Elementary in Pasadena, Texas as a fifth grade teacher and spent 40 wonderful years in that position. She retired from public school teaching (McMasters Elementary) and began teaching sixth grade at First Baptist Christian Academy in August of 2008 and retired in 2020. She realized long ago that teaching was her life’s calling ---- -she enjoyed it too much for it not to be!
Away from school she enjoyed reading, collecting books and teapots, listening to classical music, and always being in the decorating mode. Family and friends were very important to her. She came from a wonderful family and has been blessed with a rich spiritual heritage for which she was eternally grateful. Steve and Jeanie married in 1973. (IN HER WORDS) “He has certainly added much to my life”.
We were members the First Church of The Nazarene Pasadena, Texas for over 35 years and left due to disagreement with the direction the church was headed
Our decision to join First Presbyterian Church here in Pasadena brought much joy to our lives, as we continued to enjoy the services, music and becoming better acquainted with the other members of the church.
Jeanie had a soft heart and loved feeding and watching birds through the living room window with her cats sitting in her lap or on the foot stool and with a book in her hands.
In her last years she had dementia which took a toll on her life. She leaves behind her husband Steve Falls, a brother Tommy Shearer, her sister Judy Hipp, plus many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Her Mother (Merlene), Father (Homer), Sister (Jan) and Brother (Bill) are deceased.

She will be greatly missed.
God Speed
