Charles George Beverland, Jr. Obituary (1965 - 2020)

Charles George 'Charlie' Beverland, Jr., was called to the place that Jesus had prepared for him in Heaven on Thursday, January 23, 2020. He was 54 years old. Charlie was born on July 23, 1965 in Plattekill, New York to Charles G., Sr. and Barbara Beverland. He graduated from Walkill High School in Walkill, New York in 1983 and studied Environmental Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin and the University of San Diego. Charlie enlisted in the United States Navy and retired after 18 years of service in 2007. Charlie also worked for a time with John Deere in League City. A staunch patriot and strong advocate for veteran's services, Charlie founded the Galveston County Amputee Alliance and worked to help connect veterans from across this region to services they needed. As a veteran and amputee, himself, Charlie took a personal approach to those he was able to serve. Charlie placed his faith in Jesus Christ and lived according to his faith daily. He was a member of Iglesia Camino Nuevo-New Journey Church in Lamarque, Texas, and served there as a member of the Board of Directors and as the Men's Ministry Director. Charlie found joy in encouraging and empowering men to reach for their full potential in Christ. Charlie faced the challenges of prolonged illness with his faith, as well as courage and bravery the likes of great men of God. Many other men would have given up long ago, but not Charlie. He would always smile and wait patiently on the Lord for his next miracle. Charlie is preceded in death by his mother as well and uncle and aunt who were very dear to Charlie's heart, Martin and Mary Fisher. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Maria Elena, with whom he shared 34 joyful years of marriage. He is also survived by his children, Mayra Vega , Charles G. 'Chuck' Beverland III, Michelle Dufrene and her husband, Darryl, Rebecca Beverland, and Christopher Beverland; 7 grandchildren; Agustin Campos Beverland, Diana Campos, Delilah Arredondo, Natalie Arredondo, Owen Dufrene, Paislynn Dufrene, and Elena Dufrene; father, Charles George Beverland, Sr. and his siblings, Mark Beverland, Michael Beverland and Kristine Mravlja. Charlie's family will receive visitors beginning at 5PM on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Iglesia Camino Nuevo-New Journey Church, 915 FM 1765 in Lamarque, Texas 77568. His memorial service will begin at 5:30pm.
