Coline Austin Thies McGehee Obituary (1924 - 2020)

The earthly life of Coline Austin Thies McGehee came to completion on the 21st of July 2020 at Brazos Towers at Bayou Manor, her home of the past twenty-one years. She was the widow of Joseph Albert McGehee, Sr. with whom she bore and raised three wonderful human beings: Al, Blanche and David. Toto, as she was known to all, was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on March 11, 1924, to Oscar Julius and Coline Munroe Austin Thies. An only child, she grew up enjoying the friendship and companionship of her cousin, Blanche, who came to be like a sister to her. She attended Women's College of Greensboro, North Carolina for her bachelor's degree and completed her master's degree at the Presbyterian School of Christian Education in Richmond, Virginia. The Presbyterian church had been a continuing blessing and purpose throughout her life. She joined in the life of each and every of Joe's congregations, enhancing the presence of God's spirit through her generous acknowledgement of that presence in all she encountered. She continued to grow her family through the church and through the many friendships she fostered throughout her life. She made a point of communicating to all her dear ones every week through letters and eventually, emails, to chronicle her active life and connect us with each other. She is survived by her three children David McGehee, daughter-in-love Cindy McGehee, Al McGehee, Blanche McGehee Price, son-in-love Stephen Price, her cousin/sister Blanche Lenhart, seven grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. The online memorial service for Toto will be held through Saint Philip Presbyterian Church http://saintphilip.net/on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 3PM Central time.
