Curtis Meador

–

Texas City, Texas

To know Curtis was to love Curtis.

Curtis Meador truly loved three things in this life: his family, hunting/fishing, and Jesus. He loved each of them wholeheartedly, but perhaps one of the most remarkable things about Curtis was the way he loved people. If Curtis loved you, you knew it. He never let too much time pass without telling you how much you meant to him, how proud he was of you, or simply that he loved you. In many ways, that was his superpower. He made the people in his life feel loved, and he made sure there was never any question about it.

Curtis was also incredibly funny. He loved to pick on the people around him, and no one he loved was safe from it. In fact, the more he loved you, the more likely you were to find yourself on the receiving end of one of his jokes. He could aggravate you, push every button you had, and somehow have you laughing with him a few minutes later.

When we think of Curtis, so many of us will think of his laugh. It was infectious and unmistakable and something he passed onto his children. The kind of laugh that could fill a room and make everyone around him start smiling too.

Of all the people and things Curtis loved, his children and grandchildren held an especially important place in his heart. He loved them more than anything in the world. He was immensely proud of them, and his love for them was evident in the way he spoke about them, celebrated them, and made sure they knew just how much they meant to him. Being called Daddy, and eventually Pawpaw were among the greatest joys of his life.

Curtis’s love for the outdoors was such a deep part of who he was that some might say hunting and fishing were written into his DNA. They were never simply hobbies; they were woven into his life, his memories, and the way he spent so much of his time. It is nearly impossible to think of Curtis without picturing him in camouflage, at the deer lease, on the water, or telling one of the many stories that came from those moments.

Above all, Curtis loved Jesus, and his faith was an important part of his life. That faith gives those who loved him comfort now. As much as everyone wishes there had been more time more stories, more laughter, more fishing trips, more jokes and more chances to hear him say “I love you” there is peace in believing that when his time here ended, Jesus was there to call him home.

Curtis Lee Meador Jr. passed away surrounded by love and prayer on Monday, September 21, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Meador Sr.; his mother, Barbara Meador; brother, Daniel Allen; and sister, Shaaron Allen.

He is survived by his brothers, Donnie Allen and Jay Meador; his sisters, Joy Hall, Jana Powell, and CeLee Fosberg; as well as his beloved children, Taylor Davis, Mason Meador, and Courtney Meador, his grandchildren Darby, Lochlan and Olson Davis, his extended family, and the many friends and loved ones whose lives were made better simply by knowing him.

Curtis leaves behind far more than can ever be captured in a few paragraphs. He leaves behind a lifetime of stories that will continue to be told, jokes that will still make us laugh, memories from hunting camps and fishing trips, and a family that will always know exactly how deeply they were loved.

We hope heaven is full of trophy point bucks, tagged redfish, people willing to listen to the same good stories one more time, and beer that is always cold. We love you, Curtis. We miss you more than words can say, and we will carry your love, your stories, and your laughter with us always.
