Ladies and gentlemen, friends and family, Dimitrios Tsekouras here. Yes, you read that correctly. Although I took my leave on October 1st, 2026, I've managed to send you this message from beyond. You see, the afterlife's WiFi is surprisingly robust!
Born on March 8th, 1942, in the beautiful land of Greece, I have had quite the adventurous life, even if I do say so myself. I was born amidst the chaos of WWII and the Greek Civil War, but you know what they say, "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger." My resilience started early. I decided to test my courage by serving in the Greek Army for two years, and as a Merchant Marine for six years. Between sailing the seven seas and seeing every country in the world (well, except Australia and Antarctica - I knew I forgot somewhere), I've collected enough tales to last several lifetimes.
Despite my ambitious travels, my heart always belonged to Houston, Texas, my residence for many years. I had the honor of becoming a United States citizen at the spry age of 82, after 54 years as a legal immigrant. An achievement that I am incredibly proud of! But what truly mattered most to me was my family, especially my grandchildren - James, Alexandra, and Katerina. They were the real stars in my universe. Speaking of stars, my last wish is to be cremated and returned to the Corinthian sea that I loved so much in my home town of Kamari, Corinth, Greece. I always was a bit dramatic, wasn't I?
I am survived by my courageous son Theo and his equally brave wife Carrie, my cherished grandchildren, and my siblings George, Anastasia, and Dina. I am also preceded in death by my parents Theofanis and Katerina, and my brothers John, Elias, and Bill.
As it is written in the Bible, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." (2 Timothy 4:7). I can confidently say I did just that. But hey, don't be too sad, I'm probably off sailing the celestial seas, or finally visiting Australia and Antarctica!
Please, share your memories and photos of our time together on my memorial page. I promise to check them out - the afterlife can get a bit dull at times. Rest assured, I'm up here, keeping a watchful eye on all of you. Until we meet again, my friends.
