As a reminder, Surrounded by family, Dr. Vicente N. Mendoza, 73, a beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully on August 30, 2021. Affectionately known as Ying to his wife, Rosario, Papa to his children, Wowo to his grandkids and Doc Vic to his colleagues and everybody who knew him, he pursued a selfless path and spent his working life devoted to his family and the practice of Internal Medicine. He lived a practical and honorable life and his language of love was service. At a very young age, he knew he wanted to serve, he wrote, 'Vicente Mendoza M.D' in his grade 2 notebook after he marveled at the combination of speed and acumen of the doctor who treated his sister with just one injection during a house call when he was just a boy. With the help of his siblings and a scholarship program, he graduated from the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City, obtained his medical degree from the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center (UERMMMC) and successfully opened his own private clinic in his home province Bicol until his retirement in 2012. As a doctor, he cared for patients in his home during weekends, holidays or even in the wee hours of the morning. He did not fail to extend help to those who cannot afford medical care and happily accepted poultry, seafood or fruits as a token for his service. His life journey from a simple farm boy to becoming a well-loved doctor made him truly special for everyone around him. He lived a fulfilling life as a husband and father. He valued education over anything else and imparted lifelong lessons of perseverance and wisdom to his children. An avid reader, he will be remembered for his love of history and literature, where he dedicated an entire library collection of books and magazines in his family home in Bicol. When he's not in the clinic, he spends his time in the kitchen cooking and finds joy in sharing food and stories with family and friends anytime of the day. When he was younger, he found long drives therapeutic and shared countless road trips and meaningful conversations with his wife, Rosario. Most of all, he will always be remembered for his indomitable spirit and sense of humor and it will continue to live on through his children and grandchildren. His legacy will forever be cherished by wife, Rosario A. Mendoza to whom he shared 39 wonderful years of marriage together and remembered by children, Cherifer (Nine) and Rafael Alfredo (Paeng), Vicente (Budoy), Brian and Paula, John Michael(Mike) and Venn, Kevin Adderly and Vincent; grandchildren, Chloe Francesca and Skylar Bean; sisters, Juana, Myrna, Dolores and Domingo; friends and relatives; and pet cats, Fozzie and Taylor. Guests are invited to share in a Celebration of Life Visitation from 8:30-10:00 a.m., followed by a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Services on Thursday, September 2nd, 2021 at Carnes Funeral Home - Texas City, 3100 Gulf Freeway, Texas 77591.
