Elizabeth 'Libby' Brinkley Obituary (1936 - 2020)

Elizabeth ("Libby") Brinkley was born to Beaman and Maeola Richards on February 12, 1936 in Crockett, Texas and passed away in Houston on April 22, 2020. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Reginald "Reggie" Brinkley and is survived by three children (and their spouses): Becky (and John) Hampton, Allan (and Maria) Edworthy, and Mark (and Susie) Edworthy; stepson Mike Brinkley (and Barbara); seven grandchildren: Scott Sifferd, Stephen Edworthy. Celeste Risteski, Meredith O'Malley, Jacob Edworthy, Eva Edworthy, and Nicole Edworthy, eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by sisters Barbara Mora and Pat Barber. Libby spent part of her childhood in Crockett and Palestine before moving to Houston and graduating from Reagan High School. Along with her family, she was active at Baptist Temple for many years before attending Tallowood Baptist Church as a senior adult. She worked for many years at Martin Mortgage Company as a loan officer, then as a realtor at Bill Hartman Century 21 Realty. She took up painting after she retired and was able to display her artwork in several exhibitions. She loved being in her log cabin in the mountains of New Mexico and entertaining friends and family there. She and Reggie also enjoyed deer hunting together. She was creative and an excellent interior decorator, and was able to realize her dream of owning a specialty gift shop in Cypress, TX named Gift Junkie for several years. Libby loved life and deeply loved her family, and was deeply loved in return. Because of COVID-19 and the restrictions that are in place, we were not able to have a service after her death. Libby was interred with Reggie at the Veterans Cemetery in April. Now that the restrictions have been loosened, we will have a Celebration of Life service on June 26, 2020 at 2:00 in the Chapel of West University Baptist Church, 6218 Auden St., to celebrate the wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, great grandmother and friend that she was.
