Fuchsia Elliott Nelson Obituary (1943

Fuchsia Elliott Nelson died at Jennie Sealy Hospital of heart failure on December 18, 2023 with loved ones by her side and many others praying for her. Fuchsia was born in Oklahoma, but moved to Galveston as a child, graduating from Ball High School and then attended Sam Houston University in 1962 with a voice scholarship. There she met and married Guy Elliott. Returning to the Galveston area they raised a son, Christopher Guy Elliott, and daughter, Lee Kathleen Elliott. Years after Guy died, Fuchsia found a new life with husband Howard Nelson of Santa Fe. Fuchsia was musically talented, sang in many choirs, and played piano with gusto in many churches. She was at home making up wonderful recipes in the kitchen and was a skilled seamstress, sewing for all the family. She worked with the College of the Mainland Community Theater in many productions. Her career saw her working in the medical profession, most recently as director of the Galveston County Medical Society. She had a strong faith in God and many felt the balm of her helping hands. Life will be less lyric without her. Fuchsia is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Mary Blankenship, son Chris, daughter Lee, brother Jack Blankenship (Iris) and sister Sue Sexton. She leaves behind her loving husband Howard Nelson, her sister Martha Spencer, her beloved granddaughter Lauren Elliott and daughter-n-law Kelly Elliott, step-children Howard Nelson Jr and Sharon Trachtenberg, extended family and nieces and nephews, as well as countless friends who were important to her. Serving as Active Pallbearers are: Darbi Blankenship Harris, Bobby Blankenship, Blake Spencer, Mike Hess, Everett Philen, and Calvin Bremer.
