Gail Dora Woodard Obituary (1938 - 2020)

Gail Dora (Ore) Woodard, 82, passed away on June 30, 2020 at Kingwood Hospital, Kingwood Texas as a result of injuries from a car accident. She was the wife of Edward "Jerry" Woodard. They shared 60 years of marriage together. Born in Minatare, Nebraska, she was the daughter of Ivan and Ruth (Allen) Ore. She graduated from Scottsbluff High in 1955, then graduated from Scottsbluff College and obtained her teaching certificate. Gail worked as an elementary and middle school teacher and a volleyball coach at Victory Hill school and Cedar Valley School. Gail later worked in various administrative positions. Gail will be remembered for giving her time to children as a teacher, a foster mother and a friend to any kids who needed to talk or needed support. She was known to be able to talk to anyone and perfect strangers would stop her discussing sometimes very personal things asking for her opinion. Gail survived many friends who she missed dearly through the years. She had a lifelong love of reading and shopping and she enjoyed quilting, knitting and painting ceramics. Alzheimer's is a cruel disease that stripped all of this from her. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Woodard, children Allen Woodard and his wife, Beth, Taralynn Mackay and her husband Scott, and Devin Corey Woodard and his wife Maritza, six grandchildren Callen, Cameron, Jaren, Dylan, Elijah and Jacob, two step-grandchildren Shannon and her spouse Dan and Bianca and two step-great grandchildren Kate and Levi. She is survived by her sister Eva and her spouse Clarence, sister-in-laws Joyce Ore and Phyllis Woodard, brother-in -law Harry Tart and many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Also included in her circle of love were her two furry children Jessie and Little Bit. Gail was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Ilene Tart Shoemaker and her brother Benjamin Ore. In order to help future physicians, the body was donated to the University of Texas, McGovern Medical School. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the charity of your choice.
