Hewitt Lynn Bauguss Sr Obituary (1922 - 2019)

HEWITT L. BAUGUSS, SR. of Brazoria, TX went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 17 in Angleton, Texas. He was born in Vivian, Louisiana in 1922 to James and Mary Bauguss. A WWII veteran, Hewitt served with the U.S. Army in Africa. After his honorable discharge he joined the National Guard where he served an additional four years before being honorably discharged. After working in the boating industry for a number of years in Houston, the Brazosport area and Sweeny, he and wife Jimmie moved to the Sanderson, TX area where he accepted the job he loved most and that was being ranch foreman for the Stumberg Ranch. Hewitt and Jimmie loved the time they spent in West Texas. Hewitt taught Sunday school and sang in the choir while Jimmie played the piano and organ in the First Baptist Church of Sanderson. Later they joined the historic Pumpville Baptist Church in Langtry, Texas. They dearly loved being members of Pumpville Baptist Church, driving 50 miles one way each Sunday to worship, enjoy the fellowship of other hard-working ranchers where they all ended each Sunday sharing a home cooked meal with each other. Hewitt shared the story of having to kill a rattlesnake at the front doors of the church one Sunday before anyone could go in for services. Years later after doing some traveling, they moved to Brazoria to be closer to family. Hewitt loved fishing, and had many fond memories of fishing with his dad, brother and sister. Hewitt and Jimmie loved camping with their family where they enjoyed many a game of "whiffle ball" and pitching washers. Being very mechanically inclined, his family always knew if anyone could repair something, their dad could, even if he was unfamiliar with the item. His children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren loved listening to his stories. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of68 years, Jimmie Bauguss, parents James and Mary Bauguss of Vivian, La., brother Lee B. Bauguss, nephew James Leonard Bauguss II, Son-in-law Charles Rodefeld, and great granddaughter Lila Becker. He is survived by his son Hewitt L. Bauguss, Jr. and wife Jackie of Sealy, TX, daughter Sheila Lowe and husband James of Angleton, TX, daughter Deanna Rodefeld of Angleton, TX and sister Sue Childs of Hot Springs, AR. He is also survived by 5grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Hewitt was a very independent man until the last two months of his life when it was necessary for him to enter Country Village Care for cardiac rehabilitation. Our family is very thankful and appreciative of the kind and compassionate care that our Dad and our families received during his time there. We also want to say thank you to A-Med Hospice for their kindness and compassionate care for our Dad and our family. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing." Honoring Hewitt's wishes, there will not be a memorial service.
