Jacquline LaRue Hamlin Obituary (1941 - 2023)

Jackie LaRue Evans Hopson Hamlin August 18, 1941 -September 13, 2023 Jackie LaRue Evans Hopson Hamlin was born on August 18, 1941 to Ola and Jack Evans in San Angelo Texas. She is survived by her husband Leonard Hamlin who was/is her heart! Furthermore, she is survived by her brother Alfred Evans Sr whom she adored, and her two children Cathy Brown and Dave Hopson as well as Leonard's two children Bryan Keith Hamlin and Shelly Ward. Beyond that are numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren that would sound like the book of Genesis Chapter 5 if we named them all and started doing begets! Her childhood really shaped her life as they lived in a railroad boxcar until her Dad got a job in Utah. Her 4th and 5th-grade years made a big impression on her as she had her own room, green grass, and piano lessons. The family would eventually move back to the Hill Country of Texas and her Mom bought "The Cove" Cafe in Buchanan ". She attended Llano High School and was the homecoming queen and school leader where she met her first husband Don Ray, the QB for Llano and the King. They had children, but alas it was not to last. Jackie's life on Buchanan Lake with her mom and brother was an awesome memory she always cherished and Lake Buchanan was always "the place" that she claimed to be from. In her early life, Jackie was a leader of the Campfire Girls for Cathy and many others. She also attended all the fundraisers for her and Dave as they played sports, and all the school extracurricular activities that they probably couldn't afford on her Avon income and her first husband's wages. Nonetheless, she pulled it off with a smile and a grimace of determination. As she did so many things in her life. Once the children got older, she obtained her realtor's license which finally became a Broker's license and then even the Masters. She worked in Real Estate for many years helping many families get into their new homes across all the boundaries that we all know pop up. She helped Cathy and Dave with all their homes and many of their friends. The perfect housewife in the 60s who morphed into a real estate mogul ending her career in the 2000s as a master broker. She managed millions of dollars of real estate and was part of the early stages of South Shore. After falling in love with Leonard, they spent so much time together! They loved traveling to tropical locales including the Bahamas, Mexico, Belize, Florida Keys, Catalina Island, Padre Island and of course Galveston Island. She also really enjoyed dancing and they were members of the Bay Area Whip Dance Club. Jackie loved entertaining and hosting Holiday parties including their famous Halloween party for the neighborhood. She also would relish enjoying the grandkids whenever they would come and visit. A wonderful sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother. She loved decorating, cooking, sewing, and ANYTHING around or on the water! In retirement, she had many friends. Traveling, pool parties, and especially bunko with the ladies. To the end, she made sure everyone could be as comfortable as possible. She went with her Savior Jesus Christ on September 13, 2023; just the way she wished, at peace and ready to experience the whole thing. We all love her dearly and will miss her more and more as time goes by.
