Jerry R. Waye Obituary (1949 - 2016)

Jerry R. Waye was born in Pueblo, Colorado on November 21, 1949. He passed away Monday, August 29, 2016 at the age of 66, in Santa Fe, Texas. Jerry fought a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer and finally went home to meet his Savior, passing peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Sharon Modlish and Becky Revelle. Jerry is survived by his wife of twenty-one years, Gay Waye; his son, Brian Waye, husband of Tania Waye, and their children, Zack Hendry, Jasmine Hendry, and Lexi Waye; his daughter, Jerilyn Waye Johnson, wife of Clint Johnson, and their children, Brandi, Brittani and Jamie Johnson; his step-daughter, Traci Stanton, wife of Joe Stanton III and their children, Mindy and Joseph Stanton; his step-son, Jerry Wayne Campbell, husband of Eileen Campbell, and their children Maddie, Julia, and Natalie Campbell; his brother, Larry Waye, husband of Cheryl Waye; and his parents, Bill and Dorothy Waye. Jerry attended the University of Southern Colorado and Independent Bible College of Dallas, Texas. He served as associate pastor at Lake Worth Baptist Church, as a church planter in Aurora, Colorado, as pastor at Memorial Baptist Church, La Marque, Texas, and as pastor of Rockview Church, Santa Fe, Texas from 1996 until his passing. Jerry was a devoted man of God who built his life on the Rock, Christ Jesus and on the Word of God. His favorite Scriptures came from the teachings in Proverbs. Jerry was a wise man who instilled that wisdom in those around him and disciple others to be the Christians God has called them to be. He preached many of his sermons not from the pulpit but as he lived out his faith as an example to others. Today, there are thousands of people who have been affected by the ripple effect of those whom Jerry discipled throughout his lifetime. All of them have been given a firm place to stand through their relationship with Christ, a new song in their mouth, and a hymn of praise to their God.
