Joe A. Sambrano

–

Friendswood, Texas

In Loving Memory of Joe Arthur Sambrano

Joe Arthur Sambrano, 83, of Friendswood, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on September 4, 2026. He was born on December 30, 1942, in Donna, Texas, to Arturo Sambrano and Mary Handy Sambrano.

Joe and Gloria first met while attending Mary Carroll High School in Corpus Christi and began dating after graduation. They married on September 11, 1965, at Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church and built a beautiful life rooted in faith, family, and enduring love. At the time of Joe’s passing, they were just seven days shy of celebrating their 61st wedding anniversary.

Joe honorably served in the Texas Army National Guard and as a member of the United States Army Reserve. He was honorably discharged on March 4, 1972.

Beginning with Missouri Pacific in 1967, Joe built a 35-year career in the trucking and transportation industry. He worked for several trucking companies before retiring from Consolidated Freightways on August 30, 2002. He was also a proud member of Teamsters Local Union 657.

Joe and Gloria raised their three children in Corpus Christi and Harlingen, where they lived for 30 years. While in Harlingen, Joe was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, and he enjoyed bowling in the church league. In 2003, they moved to Friendswood to be closer to their children and growing family and became devoted members of Mary Queen Catholic Church.

Family was the center of Joe’s life. He treasured time with his children and grandchildren, never missing their school or sporting events and always lending a hand whenever someone needed help. With his warm smile, quick wit, gentle spirit, and generous heart, Joe was the root of his family and the steady center around which so many lives revolved. His presence gave them a lasting sense of security, belonging, and home.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria; his children, Joe Anthony and his fiancée, Maria; Troy John and his wife, Cherie; and Deborah Ann and her husband, Brian Bury; his grandchildren, Erika, Hannah, Jacob, Cayden, Kenna, Casen, Keith, and Travis; his great-grandchildren, Adelynn and Amelia; and his siblings, Richard, BeBe, Becky, and Rachel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arturo and Mary; his beloved maternal grandparents, Virginia and Jim Handy, who played a key role in raising Joe.

Joe was a precious gift, loaned to his family by God for nearly 84 years. Although they will miss him beyond measure, they find comfort in knowing that he is now home in Heaven. The love he gave so freely will remain in their hearts, guide them through the years ahead, and live on through the generations that follow him.
