Juan Ortega Villeda, a longtime resident of Alvin, passed away on Friday July 31, 2020 due to Covid 19 complications.\nJuan is survived by his mother Josefina Villeda Ortega, his wife Maria Del Refugio Lara, Ex-wife Rebecca Avalos Hernandez; his 5 children: Sandra Ortega Terrazas, Juan Carlos Ortega, Gabriel Ortega, Joe Andrew Ortega, Alberto Ortega. Juan's grandchildren: Lizette F. Perez, Joshua Lopez, Alysia L. Lopez, Halley N. Ortega, Sarah G. Ortega, Christopher R. Ortega, Daniela P. Ortega, Gabriela Ortega, Albert (Alex) Ortega, Michael D. Ortega, and Jordan L. Ortega.\nJuan was born in Reynosa, Tamaulipas in Mexico on January 8, 1954 to Juan Ortega and Josefina Villeda Ortega. He attended high school with a major in bookkeeping. Juan was a man of various trades, but his main career focus was being a business owner of a resale shop. On August 2, 1971 he married his first wife, Rebecca Avalos, the mother of his children. Juan welcomed his 5 beautiful children, who were his pride and joy. His common law marriage was with Maria Del Refugio Lara and their relationship spanned over 20 years up until his death.\nJuan was a devoted father and son. His favorite sport was baseball and loved the Houston Oilers; he loved attending his son Joe's Track & Field meets and Albert's basketball games. He also partook in watching boxing matches. His favorite color was red. He enjoyed reading especially historical books and documents; he was a loyal subscriber to Reader's Digest. His favorite music was Conjunto and Rancheras. There wasn't a person he didn't talk to rich or poor. He will be missed deeply by his friends, and all who knew him.\nA funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday August 7, 2020 at Carnes Funeral Home 3100 Gulf Fwy Texas City, TX 77591. Flowers and condolences are welcomed. Mask are required and social distancing is highly encouraged.
