Lola Elizabeth Willmon Brownlee Obituary (1949 - 2019)

Lola is the daughter of Walter James Willmon and Alice Vivian Tow; both deceased. She has three brothers, Frank Willmon and wife Linda of Amarillo, Fred Willmon and wife Sarah of Aztec, NM and William (Bill) Willmon and wife Mary of Tucson Az. Lola Willmon graduated from Borger High School class of 1967 and began her college education before making one of the best decisions in her life, marrying Fred Brownlee on January 31st 1969 at Gardner street Church of Christ in Borger. They enjoyed 34 years of marriage together during which time they parented four children Freda Allison Brownlee George (husband Chris) born in 1971, and Leslie Dawn Brownlee Nelson(husband Michael) born in 1974. In 1981, while living in Lubbock, Fred and Lola made another decision that would improve the lives of the entire family forever. They adopted their sons, Julian Andrew and James Alexander(wife Rebecca). During the next decade, the family lived in Lubbock, Reserve, Farmington, El Paso, Dumas, and Amarillo. After arriving back home in the panhandle, Lola finished her Bachelors degree in Psychology from WTA&M University - Canyon, Tx in 1991 and a Masters of Education from the same University in 1993. Initially, Lola worked for the High Plains Children's Home in Amarillo, Tx and eventually found employment with TDCJ - Clements Unit in Amarillo as an Associate Clinical Psychologist, from which she retired in 2011. Fred and Lola enjoyed a life of traveling and adventure until Fred was called home to be with his heavenly Father on July 11, 2003. Lola also served as a longtime volunteer for the CASA of Amarillo up until her passing, in addition to spending many hours serving the Lord, and playing(dominos) with her Comanche trail family. In addition to the four children, Lola is also survived by eight grandchildren: Matthew- Houston, Tx and Aaron George- Huntsville, Tx; Sabrina and Madylin Nelson- Roswell, NM; Reanne Brownlee- Skellytown, Tx; Elias- Dodge City, KS, Audrey and Savannah Brownlee- Spearville, KS; and one Great-granddaughter - Elianna Brownlee- Dodge City, KS. , And many cousins, nieces, and nephews. A Service to remember her life will be held on August 17, 2019 at Comanche Trail Church of Christ at 11am in Amarillo, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Children's Home of Lubbock.
