Maria Luisa Martinez

Maria Luisa Martinez was born on January 1, 1941 in Laredo, Texas and left this earth peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 11, 2025. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Elias Martinez, daughter Terri Fitzgerald (Lee), daughter Melissa Martinez (James), three grandchildren, Nathan, Eric (Rachel), Ryan and 5 great grandchildren.

Luisa was a kind, gentle, and patient soul that was loved by her family, friends, co-workers and all that knew her through her many years of working at St. Mary’s Hospital, UTMB, Mainland Medical Center and where she retired at the age of 82, from the Galveston County Health District. She loved her job and was a compassionate and dedicated radiologic technologist, as well as, a mentor to many radiography students. She was always available to share her knowledge and experience.

She will be deeply missed. For those who called her May, she was a beloved sister. For her husband, she was a beloved wife, who championed her husband in pursuit of his art and creativity. For her children, she was a beloved mother, who raised her daughters to follow their dreams and become professionals in the medical field and a world of art and architecture. She never missed an opportunity to talk about her family.

No formal service will take place, per Luisa’s wishes, but the family would like to thank everyone who supported her and to remember her with all the love she shared with so many.
