With immense sadness, the family of Martin J Wimmer, Jr, announces that in the early morning hours of April 7th, 2026, Martin passed away in hospice care at Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital. He always took care of his loved ones, putting them all above himself, without any hesitation, without any regrets. He provided for his parents, his children, his spouse, without wanting or expecting anything in return. The world lost a very good man, a man of integrity, a man of honesty, a man of love. Martin was loyal veteran, serving 2 years at Fort Bliss during the Korean War. He also left society, and nature, a generous gift of 22 acres known as The Wimmer Hummingbird Sanctuary, in Kendleton, Texas. Martin lived a long life, a life well lived, that he shared with all who walked along with him. I know because I had that honor, that blessing, that gift, as I accompanied him as first, his friend, and then his partner, and then his spouse for 40 blissful years. Martin is survived by me, his spouse, Jay Pennington, his son, Stephen Wimmer, his sisters, Barbara Scott, and Peggy Johnson, and many more loved ones. Martin will always be missed by those who had the pleasure to love, and be loved by him.
Services will be held at Grace United Church of Christ, 8515 Brookwulf Drive, Houston, Texas 77072 on Sunday, July 26th, 2026 at 11:30 am.
