Michael Flores

–

Texas City, Texas

Michael Richard Flores, the man and the legend; Mr. Guitar Man, went to his heavenly home on September 11th, 2026. But his legacy and his presence will forever stay in our minds, as well as our hearts. Therefore, a person like Mike will never be forgotten! If you knew him, you’d know just how true these words are. While we are saddened at such a great loss, we know he is rejoicing in the heavenly band of joyful singing and guitar pickin’. He’s with his brothers, Joe and John Flores and sister Carol Flores. And he no longer has to mourn over the passing of his father and mother; Martin and Cenovia Flores-they are together again.

Knowing his brother John, he had some wise crack to say to Mike when he saw him. The Flores family’s humor and love for life was something no one could deny. Mike was the consummate entertainer, the musician who played and sang all genres of music. If Mike couldn’t make you laugh, no one could, especially his quick wit of corny jokes. I see you smiling already.

The names of the people & the bands that were influenced by Mike is too numerous to mention here, although he would want me to. Lol. Mike loved to teach others the joy of music, whether it was guitar, bass, piano or singing. He was a Beatles and Dave Clark 5 fan from way back. Later, he would move into rock music, then country, and then gravitated to the songs of his youth in Tejano music. He couldn’t speak Spanish, but he sure could sing it! Later, he performed as a solo and duo artist.

Mike was born on January 24th, 1956, in Galveston, Texas. The family moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1966 and stayed there for 7 years, returning to live in Texas City. He worked for the Texas Employment Workforce of Texas City for 26 years. He was truly a servant who made an impact helping many lives. His great effort to help people gain employment and to share wise counsel with them to get them back on their feet will always be remembered.

He was baptized in 2023 at the Victory First Church of God, in Texas City, Texas. And once again, his love, humor and great attitude towards life, made a difference in people’s lives. We are eternally grateful that we knew someone like Michael Flores and that we have the promise of Christ, we will see him again. His words, his image and his music will still be played everyday in our hearts. Mike, you did it; you fought the good fight, you finished your race.

Your daughter Sandy, your brother Martin Jr., your sister in-law Stephanie, your niece and nephews Stacey, Laura, Ashley, Paul, Krista, Tony, Joe, and Carrie and your great nieces and nephews Kierstin, Allen, Jacob, Ashton, Kylee, Mylei, Jaxon, Evelynn, and Natilynn miss you and will be sure to use the wisdom, love and humor that you gave them to give others. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

A celebration of life will be held at San Leon Community Church in San Leon, Texas on Saturday, November the 14th, 2026. At 1:00 PM, there will be a time of visitation and an opportunity to share a few memories of Mike’s life. At 2:00, the service will be officiated by pastors Rick Harper and Johnny Angel.
