Michele Kay Kennedy-Deering, age 41 of Texas City, passed away on May 29, 2013. Born August 17, 1971 in Peeksill, New York to Diana Lewis and Gary Deering Sr. Michele graduated from College of the Mainland with an associate's degree in 2013. She worked at Mainland Hospital. Michele was on the Texas City Little League board for many years. Michele's hobbies included crochet, embroidery, puzzles, and dolphins. She loved her NY Yankees, New York Giants, basketball and her cats. Michele was preceded in death by her grandmother, Elaine Deering; grandfather, Martin E. Lewis; She is survived by her spouse, Omar Powell; 3 sons, Randell Powell (Haley), Zack Powell (Angelica), Kyle Kennedy; father, Gary Deering Sr., (Leslie); mother, Diana Lewis (Emma); brother, Gary Deering Jr. (Mandee); grandfather, Herman Deering; grandmother, Mildred A. Lewis; stepbrother, Michael (Melanie and Trey), stepsister, Madeline (Leonard); grandson, Brycen; niece, Keely; nephew, Mathew Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013 from 5 p.m until 7p.m. Memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. at Carnes Funeral Home (exit 15) 3100 Gulf Freeway, Texas City, TX
