Philomena Izundu Obituary (1964 - 2024)

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Philomena Iwelunabose Izundu, who departed this life on March 17, 2024, at the age of 59. Born on May 14, 1964, in Nigeria, Philomena grew up in Lagos and later moved to Houston, Texas. She was a devoted mother to her children, Chibuzor Joshua Izundu and Nnamdi Nicholas Izundu. Philomena lived a fulfilling life and was a woman of many talents. She was passionate about cooking and was known for her delicious traditional dishes such as fufu and egusi, jollof rice, and many other Nigerian specialties. Her homemade dishes were always the highlight of family gatherings. In addition to her culinary talents, Philomena was very skilled at sewing clothes. Her creations were admired by many and cherished by those lucky enough to wear them. Philomena's caring nature and positive attitude were a source of strength for her family and friends. She had an incredible ability to uplift others, always finding positivity in any situation and providing comfort and support to those in need. Her love for God and worshipping in spirit and truth was evident in everything she did. She found joy in helping people out of bad situations by spreading the word of God. She had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing gospel music, which brought joy and inspiration to those around her. In hard times, Philomena somehow always had a positive and caring attitude. It was as if she didn't care about the current situation. Instead, she uplifted others with her kindness. Her compassion and strength were a beacon of hope for everyone who knew her. Philomena cared deeply for her two sons, Josh and Nick, always striving to give them the best life possible despite any challenges. Her love and dedication knew no bounds, and her sons are a testament to her incredible strength and resilience. Philomena was preceded in death by her parents, Late Mr. Alphonsus Onwubuya and Late Mrs. Regina Onwubuya, along with her older sister, Late Mrs. Roseline Ndidi Nwaeme. She is survived by her sons, Chibuzor Joshua Izundu and Nnamdi Nicholas Izundu, along with her six siblings: Mrs. Josephine Mosheshe, Mrs. Kate Obalim, Mr. Patrick Onwubuya, Mrs. Buchi Adelakun, Mrs. Mary Osamor, and Mrs. Anthonia Obiageli. She also leaves behind numerous extended family members and countless friends who will miss her dearly. We find solace in knowing that our mother now rests in perfect peace, free from pain, and we will carry her memory in our hearts forever. Her life was a beautiful example of love and selflessness, and she will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Rest in peace, dear mother.
