Rafaila Bender Obituary (1936 - 2018)

Rafaila Lopez Bender, 81 went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 while surrounded by family. Rafaila was born on October 24, 1936 to Jose Rocha and Julia Lopez in Lockhart, TX. She was married to Lothar Bender for 30 years. They had a full life together raising eight children. She retired from the auto industry after many years. She enjoyed gardening and ceramics during her spare time. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lothar Bender, son, Lothar Hans Bender, daughters Mitzi Darlene Cummings and Lori Ann Kapsi. She is survived by daughters Mary Leys, husband Danny Leys, Debbie Potter, Elizabeth Kogut, husband Joe Kogut, Tracy Maldonado, husband Danny Maldonado, Monika Sandridge, husband Clint Sandridge, 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and friend David Jones. The family will receive friends and family from 6PM to 8PM on Monday, January 22 at Carnes Funeral Home in Texas City, TX. Services will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, January 23 at Carnes Funeral Home in Texas City, TX and interment will be at Forest Park East in Webster, TX. Serving as pallbearers are Danny Leys, Clint Sandridge, Joe Kogut, Jonathan Cummings, Mike Cummings and Daniel Maldonado.
