Rhonda LaRose Alcorn Obituary (1950 - 2023)

Rhonda L. Alcorn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. The example she lived day by day will ever be a goal for her family to strive to reach. She was faithful to her church, always present at every service unless providentially hindered from attending. The memories we have of Rhonda will always be dear to our hearts. We should not mourn her passing but should rejoice because she touched our lives, and now has gone, we know, to a home more beautiful than any we have ever known. She gave her all for Him, and for the family he gave to her, and now she is added to His great and blessed family in the world beyond our vision, which we call Heaven. Today we are silent, to pay tribute to a person who has lived among us a "one who went about doing good" and who always put Christ first in everything she did. During her time of illness, she leaned heavily on the Lord. She called upon Him to help bear the pain when many times she could have called upon her loved ones, but refused to do so, feeling that they were already tired and overburdened. She was a faithful member of Hunter Chapel C.M.E. Church and a loyal worker in many Local and District church auxiliaries. She started her employment as an intern at Johnson Space Center as a programmer and worked there from 1973-1979. She worked for different contractors under the NASA umbrella until her retirement. After retiring, she worked for the LaMarque and Texas City Independent School Districts until her health no longer would allow her. Rhonda was active in all activities that affected the lives of her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was a proud and active member of the Lincoln High School Eagles, class of 1969. She was also a proud Texas Southern University Tiger graduate, class of 1973. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Tressie Bruton and brother Clyde Brian Bruton. She will be remembered in the hearts and memories of her husband, Louis Alcorn, children, Larna Alcorn and David L. Alcorn, Sr. (Wynisha), sisters, Adonis Bruton, Barbara Carraway, and Vanessa Hearne, grandchildren, Terrence Pleasant (Cristiane), Desstin Alcorn, Myles Lewis, Brandon Lewis, David Alcorn, Jr., Dalyn Alcorn, Pershaun Haynes, Ki'erra Jones and one great-grandson, De'Khari Haynes, brothers-in-law Otis Alcorn, Larry Alcorn (Louettra). sisters-in-law Gwenlyn Gilmore (Arthur), Hulene Perkins (Rogers), Debra Guidry (Robert), Marsha Bruton, Goddaughter Kellie Clay and a host of nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
