Ricky 'J. J.' Ferrell Obituary (1957 - 2018)

Ricky "J.J." Ferrell passed away Friday, January 26, 2018, at his home in Fresno, Texas. He was 60 years young. Ricky was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on the 25th day of September 1957, to Darwin Glen Ferrell and Jenny Pollard Ferrell. The family soon moved to the Fort Bend County area, then settled in Fresno where J.J. spent the rest of his life. Growing up in a family that loved all things Rodeo, he was involved in F.F.A., Ft. Bend County Fair, and the Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo. J.J. was also a member of the I.P.R.A. of which he was very proud. While still in high school, the Simonton Rodeo was started. His family and friends were always there when the chute would open, and J.J. was there on the wildest bull he could get. "He was in Heaven." J.J. lived his life to the fullest, he never met a stranger. He carried a big black book that had all his family and friends phone numbers from all over the world which he called his "Bible." He loved his family and his family of friends. He had a heart as big as Texas and would do anything for anybody anytime. J.J.'s greatest claim to fame was on September 23, 1997, when a little baby girl was born to him and Susan Ferrell. She was named Rikki Faye and she was the light of his life. He bought her first horse before she could even walk, and they named him Rowdy. Rikki Faye loved her Daddy to the "Moon and Back" and always will. J.J. worked throughout the Country in construction in the Petrochemical Field where he met and made friends with a multitude of people that will surely miss his sense of humor and great big smile. Our Dear J.J. is survived by his only child, Rikki Faye Ferrell; mother, Jenny Ruth Ferrell; brother, Bobby (Denna) Ferrell and family Colton and Morgan; sister, Darla Ruth Haig (Chris) and family Mattie Ruth, Tyler, and Michael (Jessica) and daughter Ally. J.J. also left his fiance, Stephanie Duffner to morn his loss. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, February 2nd, 2018 at the Sugar Land Baptist Church, 16755 S.W. Freeway, Sugar Land, Texas 77479. Visitation will be from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Memorial Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Fellowship will follow in the reception room until 3:00 p.m. Pastors Mike Fletcher and Jason Williams will preside over the service. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made to The M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
