Ronald Higgins

September 4, 1947 – April 9, 2024

Ronald “Ronnie” Francis Higgins, also lovingly known as “Poppy,” was born
in Galveston, Texas on September 4, 1947. He was reunited with his family
in Heaven on the evening of Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at the age of 76 in
Texas City, Texas.

Ron served in the United States Army for “20 years, 20 days, and 20
seconds.” During his enlistment, he met Klara in Germany. They were
married on December 5, 1969, and shared 54 years together. When he
was eventually stationed back in the United States, he “brought back a
wife, two kids, and a cuckoo clock.” We never found the cuckoo clock!

He eventually retired from the Army after his faithful 20 years of service and
went on to devote many more years of his life to being a committed
employee of Xerox and the Associated Credit Union of Texas.

He was a hard-working family man, and enjoyed drinking a Coors Light as
he religiously watched the Houston Astros and Dallas Cowboys games.
He carried the values that come with being a member of the Boy Scouts
and the Freemasons all his life.

He is preceded in death by his mother Josephine Jones, father Auburn
Higgins Sr., brother Auburn Higgins Jr., son Peter Monarth, and one of his
best pals, Jimmie Black.

He is survived and sorely missed by his wife Klara Higgins of Texas City,
Texas; daughter Georgia Stovich of Texas City, Texas; grandchildren
Veronica “Ronnie” Stovich and partner Corbin Mason of Nacogdoches,
Texas, Adam Stovich and wife Gloryannah of San Diego, California, and
many other family members.
