Shara Jones Obituary (1959 - 2024)

Shara Yvonne Jones, 64 of Texas City, Texas passed away on January 2, 2024, at UTMB in Galveston, Texas. Shara was born to Jewel Thomas and Benjamin Dorsey in Galveston, Texas. Shara attended La Marque Highschool and graduated with the class of 1978. She was married for 17 years to now ex-husband Edward C. Jones Sr in this union two children were born Sharia and Edward Jones. In the later part of her years, she worked as medication aid at The Rio at Mainland Center. Shara was a member of Westward Street Church of Christ. Shara enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, watching television and attending church activities. Shara also enjoyed sharing her home, talents, and resources. She loved praising the Lord and giving good inspirational advice as well as having a quiet gentle spirit. Always thinking and putting others before herself. She also enjoyed donating, thrifting, and collecting vintage rare items. She is survived by her Ex-Husband Edward C. Jones Sr; daughter Sharia; Son Edward C. Jones Jr. (Indi Jones) Grandchildren Trystan Jones, Reign Knox Andrew Knox and Saudia Knox. Siblings Clementine Carter, Rickey Carter, Michael Thomas, Timothy Thomas, and Daniel Thomas and nieces Yannique Messitho, Runesha Thomas, and Gilliaum Thomas and Nephew Rasta Thomas and Paul Haley -Jones and special cousins Robert Davis and Family and Jo Jo Dorsey and Family. A host of extended friends and family. She was preceded in death by her sister Paula Haley and her parents Jewel Thomas and Benjamin Dorsey. There will be a public visitation held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 10am with a church service to begin at 11am. Services will be held at Westward Street Church of Christ located at 302 N. Westward St. Texas City, Texas 77591. Burial to follow at Rising Star Cemetery.
