Shirley Ann Laverne Nash Obituary (1942 - 2023)

Our beloved Mother, Mamaw, Sister, and Aunt ascended to Heaven on July 7th, 2023. We will have a private ceremony and then cast her ashes in the same fishing canal where she watched the casting of ashes for her late son, Russell, the year before, so that they will eternally be together wherever the current takes them. Shirley was one of seven children of Charles and Margaret Nash. She grew up in West Virginia and spoke so fondly of her brothers & sisters; Janie (d. 2005), Chuck (d. 2014), Evelyn, George, Ron, and Dave along with all their families whom she often told loving stories about. Throughout her life's journey, Shirley had married and traveled all over the US as well as a brief stint living in Hawaii and Japan. She had three children who loved her dearly, Christine Kidd, Russell Mihlbauer (d. 2022), his wife, Terri, Bryan Breeden, and his wife, Beth, as well as all her grandchildren, Jennifer, Russell, Serenity, Amber, Leigh, Darci, and Sarah. She also had 5 great grandchildren that she loved and spoiled so much. Shirley was an avid baker and an awesome cook. If you've never had her homemade pizza that she made every year for Christine's b-day, Watergate cake, banana nut bread, potato bread, or one of her pumpkin or apple pies, you've unfortunately missed out! She took so much care in creating the prettiest Barbie cakes for all her granddaughters and could make the BEST lasagna you've ever had. She enjoyed going to Red Lobster on her birthday, mostly because we would all be there together with her, but also because she really loved lobster and crab legs. Food was her love language. Shirley will be missed dearly for her sweet, loving, soothing voice that made you feel like you were the most special person when you heard her say "Hi, honey!" as you went in for a hug from her, or called her on the phone. The memory of her kind eyes, soft smile, and generous heart will always bring a smile to our faces.
