Minister Whitney James Prevost Jr. was born to the union of Whitney Sr. and Susan Morrison Prevost on November 16, 1953, in Texas City. He passed away February 10, 2022. Whitney graduated from Texas City High School in 1972, and after graduation, attended Galveston College where he graduated as an X-ray Technician in 1976; he also obtained his Magnetic Resonance Imaging certification. In 2002, Whitney received his Master's degree in Theological Studies from Faith Evangelical Lutheran Seminary in California. A lifelong learner, Whitney returned to Galveston College in 2016 where he also got a certification in HVAC and Refrigeration, as well as two more certifications. As a young boy, Whitney was introduced to track and field where he garnered a myriad of medals for many years. He went on to train his sons in the sport, and they excelled as well. Whitney had a true love for his family. Spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren always put a smile on his face. He also had a passion for riding motorcycles. As a young man, he enjoyed riding, repairing, and customizing his bikes. Whitney also was known for his extraordinary dancing skills, along with his wife. They had award-winning choreographed dances that wowed the audience every time. But nothing superseded his passion for the Lord. Whitney answered his calling to becoming a minister on Dec. 5, 1994, and never hesitated to speak about the GOODNESS of the Lord. Whitney is preceded in death by his parents, and leaves to cherish his loving memory his loving wife of 30 years, Cheryl; children, Netobia Taylor (Larry); Whitney III (Mardavia); Lee (Maria); Whitney Shrina-Nyree; and Cheryl Prevost Ramos (Anthony); siblings, Marcronetta J. Cooper; Carl Prevost Sr. (Becky); Clemon P. Prevost (Essie); Reginald M. Prevost; and Senetta L. Ringer (Anthony); sister-in-law, Sabrina Evans (Anthony); grandchildren, Courtney, Waylen, Nalia, Alrene, Errol, Damien, George, and Liscelis; and a host of extended family and friends.
