Wiliam Howard Ritchie Jr. Obituary (1957 - 2023)

William Howard Ritchie, Jr. (Aka BJ), 65, passed away at home on April 6, 2023 in Santa Fe, Texas. BJ was born in Oakland, California, he was the son of William Howard, Ritchie, Sr, and Suzanne Angell. He joined the United States Marine Corps at age 20, and served 4 years. BJ moved to Texas in 2015 to be closer to family and embraced the Texas way of life. He held many jobs and was a life long entrepreneur. BJ enjoyed spending time with his family and he loved all sports. He especially loved watching and rooting for his favorite teams the Golden State Warriors, the SF 49'ers and the Houston Astros. His absolute favorite team was any team his nephew DW was playing for and he enjoyed attending all of his sports practices and games to cheer him on from the stands. He was a longtime member of N.A. and he adhered to the spiritual principles and teachings of the program. BJ loved his family and friends deeply and was always there with a positive word or a joke to make you laugh. He was quite the character and if you ever met him you would always remember his robust laugh and contagious smile. BJ is survived by his siblings, Dale (Theresa) Ritchie, James Richie, Peggy (Jimmy) Batchlor, Charmarie Ritchie (Alan) and David (Hana) Ritchie. He also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and his two best friends Charlie Mack and Keisha. He is preceded in death by his father William H. Ritchie,Sr., mother Suzanne Angell and brother Henry Ritchie. pallbearers will be: David Ritchie, Alex Chapman, Burton Bruce, Alan Singleton, Evan Peron and Matthew Higgins. The graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 3:00pm at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery, 7301 Memorial Drive, Hitchcock, Texas 77563. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org
