Willie Ed Matthews Jr. spread his wings and followed God into Heavenly gates on May 6, 2014. Willie was born February 23, 1988 in Texas City, TX to Willie Sr. and Toni Landry. He was affectionately known by his family and close friends as "Chill". To know him was to love him. He had a warm and caring heart, a contagious smile and the greatest sense of humor.\nWillie attended DISD schools and learned who God was at a very early age being reared in Dickinson, Texas by his Aunt/Mother, the late Ella Landry Owens. He participated in different school activities including wheelchair basketball, which was his favorite sport. He later became a resident of Hitchcock and attended school there being named Mr. Sophomore in 2004-2005 and graduating in the class of 2007 which was a proud moment and great accomplishment for Willie. He continued his walk with God, joining the family of Greater St. Matthews Baptist Church also in Hitchcock, Tx.\nHe is preceded in death by his brother Jerrodi A. Landry, his Aunt like Mother Ella L.Owens , grandparents Wilbert Matthews and Mark and Essie Ward but leaves so many to celebrate and cherish his legacy of love and devotion in Gods care.\nHis father Willie Sr (Sandra Kay) of Bay City, TX. Dad Marvin L. Conner of Hitchcock, TX. Mother Toni Landry Conner and Step-dad Jonathan Deal of Killeen, TX. brothers Jumar Matthews (Ju'Miya), Simmeon Landry (Ayce) and Quinton Conner (Camryn) ; step-brothers Chris Helms and Damien Deal; devoted friend/brother Ramone Cross (Ja Quayla) and God brothers Jaden Collins and Percy Ray Jr. Sisters Tynesha Matthews (Tierra, Justice and Jermaine) Tosha Matthews (Toshell, Trey, Thaddieus, and Tabyus), La Toria Cahee (Mike and Destin); step sisters Angela Helms (w/3 children) , Alexus Deal and God sister RaKell Landry (Chance); Aunts Clethia Moore, Anita Hayes; Uncles Harold Matthews, Donald Matthews and RayAllen Ward; devoted Uncles Raywood F. Landry, Jr (Alicia)and Doug Landry (Katrice); his Grand-parents Effie Clark (Winston)and Raywood F. Landry, Sr. (Marie), Eddie Mae Matthews, Louvenia Henry ; and a host of other relatives and friends.\nA special thanks to Precious Teno and Larry Venzant for opening their hearts and home to my precious son 'Chill' and providing him with devoted love and care.
